3 day LIGHT RTM COURSE
The Light RTM process has become significantly popular within our
industry as a complimentary process to RTM. This hands-on course
will focus on the precision and accuracy needed to produce Light RTM
mould from preparation of the master pattern, through to the
commissioning of the mould.
The presentation will be of our latest Light RTM technology during the
theoretical sessions, and hands-on tool-making techniques and demonstration mould
injections in our workshop.
The sessions will cover the following aspects of Light RTM tool build:
-
Pattern construction
-
Injection and vacuum port location.
-
First mould half construction including heating/temperature
control options. Also mould
material choice to provide high temperature resistance, accuracy and
rapid construction for additional mould laminate structure
utilising low profile tooling system.
-
Calibrating the product thickness - working successfully with
calibration wax and demonstration of solvent based PVA systems for
"clean" release.
-
Flange calibration for both standard Mushroom and inflatable
Dynamic seal.
-
Vacuum lock techniques and application during second mould
half construction to assure accuracy.
-
Second mould half construction. Also mould material choice
specifically chosen for the thinner and more flexible contra mould
characteristics.
-
Optimised design for mould set peripheral framing
incorporating low cost - highly efficient latch clamp.
-
Opening, clean up, polishing and applying semi-permanent
release systems to the completed mould.
-
Installation of the mould seals, injection and vacuum
fittings.
-
Review of the do's and don'ts on fibre loading, core, insert
loading into the mould cavity. Pre-injection checks for vacuum
cavity.
Practical sessions will show different Light RTM moulds being loaded
and injected.
Doubling the output potential of your Light RTM tool set by the
manufacture of further matching face tools.
Resume of the classic problems those new to the process experience i.e.
vacuum leaks, using too much injection pressure, when to switch off vacuum, damaging the
light weight moulds when demoulding, and core absorption of
resin etc.
